About Us
Derek and Neita Balle Racing Stables are a professional standardbred training operation situated in Pukekohe. Set on 12 acres adjacent to the Franklin Park Training Centre, we have a large stable complex with both open and boxed quarters to suit all horse requirements.
Three training tracks are utilised for all stages of a horse’s preparation. We are located close to a straight line surf beach where we regularly work our horses, providing the ultimate in training grounds; a naturally freshly groomed sand surface each day. In warmer months, an equine swimming facility is also used as an alternative fitness regime.
Derek and Neita have recently entered a training partnership, merging Derek’s 35 years of training and driving experience along with Neita’s 7 years the industry initially as a Cadet and now a Junior Driver and competent horsewomen.
Traditional styles and an innovative approach have joined forces in training to nurture each horses’ individual capabilities. Neita’s passion is feed and nutrition of these beautiful four legged athletes, and enjoys giving extra pampering with massages, rides around the track and swims. Owners are kept up to date through phone calls, texts, emails, Facebook and Instagram updates. We love seeing Owners at the trials and races to enjoy the thrill of racing.
Training, breaking in or pre training arrangements are available for both trotters and pacers. Both Trainers are specialists in breaking in horses that require extra attention and patience.
