Tony Herlihy – known across New Zealand as “The Iceman” is a harness racing powerhouse based in Ardmore. With a career spanning nearly five decades, he’s driven over 3,500 winners, including multiple New Zealand Cups and trotting Inter-Dominions, and recently reached the rare
milestone of 1,000 wins as both a driver and a trainer.

At the family farm in Ardmore, Tony works closely with a top-tier team and his wife Suzanne Herlihy, who plays a vital role behind the scenes.

Suzanne keeps everything running smoothly-working closely with owners, managing day-to-day operations, and making sure the staff are well looked after (morning teas included!).

Together, Tony and Suzanne offer not just proven racing success, but a family-run operation built on care, trust, and a passion for excellence. It’s a winning combination-both on and off the track.
